Captain Steven Markasky
Steven Markasky is a Jacksonville native, who graduated from Jacksonville High School in 2009. Steven attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville College but later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Steven began working for the City of Jacksonville at the age of 16, where he worked for the Parks and Recreation department. His law enforcement career started in 2012 for the City of Jacksonville.
During his career, he has been promoted to the ranks of Corporal and Sergeant and has been assigned as a Field Training Officer, Special Weapon’s and Tactics -Team Leader, Canine Handler, Firearms instructor and Marine Safety Enforcement Officer. Steven also became certified as a Drug Recognition Expert in 2015. Steven currently holds an Master Peace Officer License. Steven has been awarded Officer of the Year in 2013 and Supervisor of the Year in 2019, 2020 and 2022. In 2016, Steven was a recipient of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Hero award. Steven was also the ninth person in the State of Texas to complete the Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP) through the Texas Police Chiefs Association. Steven was promoted to the Operations Bureau Captain in March of 2020. Steven is currently the departments accreditation manager and also assessor through the TPCAF Accreditation Program.
