April 18, 2018, 8:30 AM @ County Health Department
On Wednesday April 18th, 2018 at 8:30 a.m., the City of Jacksonville emergency services will be participating in a disaster drill designed by local hospital and county emergency officials. The intent of this disaster is to stretch the resources of both local hospitals, and assess how their staff handles situations that cause an influx of patients in a rapid situation. The disaster will simulate a weather disaster whether it be a straight-line wind storm, tornado or possibly even a flood. We decided this incident will occur at the County Health Department on College St. in Jacksonville. The incident will simulate the collapse of this structure with patients inside that not only need rescuing, but will need transported to the hospital for treatment. In this incident, we will be exercising the fire department’s capabilities in rescue operations, triaging of patients and overall communications with all pertinent local agencies and hospitals as we inundate them with critical patients.
