The City of Jacksonville Municipal Court has established April 17th through the 28th as a leniency period for those with outstanding warrants due to unpaid traffic tickets and failure to appear in traffic court. If you contact the court between April 17th and April 28th, you may be eligible to have the fine reduced and the warrant dismissed. Please contact the court immediately to resolve your case. If you have an outstanding ticket but do not have a
warrant out for your arrest yet, we strongly encourage you to contact the court before you receive a warrant.
Why do you have a warrant out for your arrest for a traffic ticket? When you receive your ticket, you are given a deadline to appear in court, submit a pleading, or pay your fine. If you do not contact the court before that deadline, you are given a 10 day grace period. On day 10, you will be issued a letter informing you that you have failed to appear in court and that a warrant will be issued for your arrest if you do not contact the court in the next 10 days. So, after your court date, you have 20 days before a warrant is issued for your arrest.
If you contact the court between April 17th and April 28th, you will not be arrested for your ticket and may have your fine reduced. Please call 903.586.7111 or come visit us at City Hall at 315 S. Ragsdale St. to resolve your traffic ticket.
