City Facilities re-open with safe practices

Update 7/3/2020:

  • To comply with State mandates, all City facilities require a facemask upon entering.
  • Jacksonville Public Library has reduced capacity to 50%.

Update 6/19/2020: Vanishing Texana Museum re-Opens

  • Vanishing Texana Museum will re-open this Saturday, June 20th at noon with sensible restrictions.
    • The operating hours will resume to Thursdays – Saturdays, 11am – 4pm.
    • When visiting, please apply the provided hand sanitizer and do not touch anything.
    • Please maintain a six-foot distance between museum personnel and guests not in your party.
    • Please ensure that kids remain with their parents during your visit.

5/28/2020: Facilities re-Open with Safe Practices Implemented

  • The City of Jacksonville is re-opening City facilities with safe practices in place, with an aim to continue to provide the highest level of customer service.

The following is the list of City facility openings, and how these restrictions have changed normal operations moving forward:

  • Jacksonville City Hall
    • Is open to the public, meetings are by appointment only. 
  • Jacksonville Public Library
    • Open to normal operations, with social distancing practices implemented based on health guidelines.
  • Jacksonville Municipal Court
    • Open for payments and routine court activities.
    • Trials and appearances in-front of Judges will re-commence in June, and those involved will be notified.

  • Utilities Payments
    • All payments will continue to be contactless, with four options to do so:

    • Drop-Box:
      • The drive-thru drop-box is located adjacent to Jacksonville City Hall (Rusk Street side) at 315 S. Ragsdale St.
      • There is also a drop-box affixed to the front of the Public and Community Services building at 1220 S. Bolton St.
    • Telephone:
      • To make a payment by telephone, or for questions about your utility bill please call (903) 589-3510.
    • Bank Draft
      • To set up automated payments by bank draft, call (903) 589-3510.
    • For questions about your bill, to set-up a new account, or to set-up an appointment with a utility billing representative, call (903) 589-3510.
  • Building Department
    • Please call (903) 339-3299 to set up an appointment regarding inspections or permits.
  • Jacksonville Police and Fire Departments
    • Operations have continued to run as normal.
  • Animal Shelter
    • Have resumed to normal operations.
  • Vanishing Texana Museum
    • The Museum will remain temporarily closed to the public.
  • All Parks
    • Have resumed to normal operations.
  • The Nichols’ Green Park Splash Pad
    • Will be open 9am to 7pm.
  • Buckner Park Pool
    • The pool will be open Tuesday, June 16th thru Sunday, August 16th.
    • The hours are: Tuesday thru Saturday 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Sundays 1:00 to 6:00 pm
    • The maximum occupancy will be 20 swimmers at a time.
    • Swimmers under 16-years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
    • The adult must identify with the lifeguards whether they will be swimming or not-swimming. 
    • The gates will be opened every-hour on the hour to new swimmers who will be granted 45-minutes of swim time.
    • The facility will be emptied, cleaned, and sanitized after each 45-minute period.
    • Admission will be based on first come first serve basis with previous swimmers being asked to skip a session.
  • Norman Activity Center
    • This will remain closed to reservations until further notice.
  • Jacksonville (Stacy D. Hunter) Recreation Center
    • This will remain closed until further notice.
  • Love’s Lookout Visitor’s Center
    • This will re-open to the public and volunteers Monday, June 1st.
